What Orthopedic Bodywork?
Orthopedic Bodywork is not a massage. It is a clinical, assessment-based treatment designed to address the root cause of pain, movement dysfunction, and injury — not simply to provide relaxation.
How is it different from massage?
Each session begins with a functional assessment to identify compensatory patterns, movement restrictions, and areas of neuromuscular dysfunction. Treatment is then tailored specifically to your body, your history, and your goals. Our assessment goes beyond a stationary postural evaluation. We look at how your body actually functions — based on your daily activities, movement habits, workout routine, occupation, and lifestyle. Because the way you sit, train, sleep, and move every day is exactly where dysfunction begins, and where lasting recovery has to start.
What’s addressed?
Every session is assessment-driven, clinically informed, and outcome-focused.
Chronic pain & tension patterns
Post-surgical recovery
Sports & overuse injuries
Postural dysfunction
Nerve compression & mobility loss
Injury prevention
Pre & post-event athletic recovery
Who it’s for:
Orthopedic Bodywork is ideal for anyone experiencing pain that hasn't resolved on its own, athletes looking to optimize performance and prevent injury, individuals recovering from surgery or trauma, and anyone whose quality of life is being impacted by how their body feels and moves. If you've been told to "just rest" or "learn to live with it" — there is another option.
What to expect:
Your session will look and feel different from any massage or bodywork you've had before — and that's intentional. Come dressed in sports or performance clothing, or anything you're comfortable moving in. If I need to access an area that's covered, we'll discuss that together before we get started — nothing happens without your awareness and consent. Expect to move through a variety of positions throughout your session. Don't worry — there are plenty of bolsters to keep you supported and comfortable. You'll also be awake and talking with me the entire time. This is not a relaxation session, and I want your feedback as we work. There will likely be moments where we're in that grey area between discomfort and relief — that's where the real work happens, and we'll navigate it together. You'll also notice that I work with a variety of tools and methods throughout your session. That's because each section of tissue I'm addressing can present its own unique dysfunction — what works for one area may not be the right approach for the next. Depending on what your body needs, I may incorporate cupping, Graston technique, Active Release Technique (ART), or other modalities as part of your treatment. These are not add-ons or upgrades — they are simply part of doing the work correctly. There is never an additional charge for tools or methods used during your session.
What to bring:
Just yourself and an open mind. If you have any imaging, surgical reports, or prior diagnoses related to the area we'll be working on, feel free to bring those along — the more context I have, the more targeted your treatment can be.
